Dedication of the Transfiguration Stained Glass Window in memory of Archbishop Michael Ramsey

The new 'Transfiguration' window, given by the Friends of Durham Cathedral in memory of Michael Ramsey, will be dedicated at Evensong on 25th September 2010. There will be a full programme of events on the day to mark this new window, focusing on Michael Ramsey's life and ministry and on the theme of 'transfiguration' which was so significant for him. Among the speakers who will contribute to the Saturday programme Tom Denny, who designed and is making the window, will talk about the creation of the window. Please join us for the day or for the whole weekend.

A programme and booking form is available (PDF).

Some of Archbishop Ramsey's former students and clergy are planning a reunion on Sunday. The programme for the weekend, with the speakers and themes, and details of accommodation for people coming from further afield, can be found in the booking form.

Everyone is welcome to the dedication at Evensong at 5.15 and no booking is needed for that. If you plan to attend the programme during the day, or to come for the whole weekend, please will you send in a booking form because refreshments are included for which we need to know numbers in advance. Bookings are made via St Chad's College (not the Cathedral), as detailed on the programme.

It is not too late to contribute memories of Michael and Joan Ramsey for the book which will be published in conjunction with the event. Please send these to nave.canon@durhamcathedral.co.uk by the beginning of July.
