Children and Young People
Young People & Students
The Cathedral is a partner with other Durham churches in the LOL (Living on Love) Youth Ministry. They have their own website which tells you about acitivities for young people from Years 6-13.
We welcome many students and other young adults as part of the Cathedral community. During term time they meet for breakfast, fellowship and informal bible study on Sundays at 10.05am. For further information, see the 10:05 page.
Sunday School & Crèche
The Cathedral Sunday School meets during the first part of the 11.15 service during term time. Children aged from 0-8, whether regulars or visitors, are welcome in CEDRIC, the Education Centre. One of the helpers will be at the back of the church before the service to welcome any visiting children and their families who would like to come that week, or a steward can direct you to CEDRIC. The children are brought into church in time to receive communion, parents or guardians are asked to sit in the south transept so that the helpers know where to find you.
Activity bags are available at the back of the church for children who do not want to go to Sunday School, please ask the stewards for one and return it at the end of the service.
During school holidays creche facilities are available in the Chapter House, accessed via the South Transept. One helper from the Cathedral will be on duty each week but a parent or guardian is asked to stay with their children. The service is relayed to the Chapter House so you can hear what is happening in church.
All our helpers have CRB clearance.
