Writing a Will

Swinburne Maddison Solicitors, sponsor of News from Durham Cathedral, will donate one third of any Will writing fee to Durham Cathedral — either an amendment to an existing Will or to make a new one. Contact Mark Collins on 0191 384 2441 and quote “Durahm Cathedral Offer”.

"The Cathedral is an infinitely beautiful shell, through which scores of generations have passed"

Leaving a gift to Durham Cathedral in your will is a personal way of ensuring that future generations can continue to discover and enjoy everything that the Cathedral has to offer.

Legacy gifts are a tax-effective way of giving and are incredibly important to the Cathedral making up around one fifth of our annual fundraising income. You can choose to leave a specific amount (pecuniary legacy) or a part of your estate (residuary legacy) once you have provided for those closest to you.

If you would like to find out more about how to remember Durham Cathedral in your will, we've produced a brochure which explains what to do and includes more information about some of the areas of the Cathedral's life and ministry you may choose to support.

To request a copy of the legacy brochure, or if you would like to talk to someone about making a bequest, please contact Ruth Robson, Head of Development, on 0191 386 4266 or email development@durhamcathedral.co.uk
