Become a Patron
By becoming a Patron of Durham Cathedral, you can become part of a family of supporters who are helping to shape the future of the Cathedral. As a thank you for your support, you’ll have access to unique opportunities to experience the many facets of the Cathedral alongside fellow regular supporters.
Gifts made by Patrons of Durham Cathedral directly support the Development Programme, so you’ll be playing a vital part in helping to ensure a flourishing Cathedral for today, tomorrow and future generations.
Patron Levels
There are five levels of Patron to choose from, starting at £12.50 a month.
AIDAN from £150 per annum (£12.50 per month)
- Invitation for two to the annual Patrons’ reception
- Regular Cathedral newsletter (twice a year)
- Two free passes for all Cathedral attractions (including the Treasures of St Cuthbert and the Tower)
HILD from £300 per annum (£25 per month)
All of the benefits above, plus:
- Opportunity to attend a Choir rehearsal
- Invitation to an annual Patrons’ tour and lecture
- Invitation to a special open photography evening (a rare chance to take photographs inside the Cathedral)
OSWALD from £600 per annum (£50 per month)
All of the benefits above, plus:
- Acknowledgement in the Cathedral annual report
- Invitation to a music outreach concert in the Cathedral
- Invitation to an evening pilgrimage with a member of the Cathedral Chapter
BEDE from £1,200 per annum (£100 per month)
All of the benefits above, plus:
- Invitation to the annual Founders and Benefactors service and reception
- Complimentary copies of selected Cathedral publications and recordings
- Opportunity to see ‘behind the scenes’ in the Cathedral bell tower
COMMUNITY OF ST CUTHBERT from £3,000 per annum (£250 per month)
All of the benefits above, plus:
- Private dinner with the Dean in the King James I dining room
- Private tour of the Cathedral upper levels
- Invitation to a private organ recital from the Cathedral’s Organist
Durham Cathedral Liber Vitae
If you give a gift of £10,000 or over to the Patron Programme, either singularly or within a five year period, you will be invited to have your generosity recorded in perpetuity in the Durham Cathedral Liber Vitae.
