Music to inspire is at the heart of worship at Durham Cathedral. The Cathedral Choir is central to this.
The sung service of Evensong takes place six or seven times a week. On Sunday mornings there is sung Matins followed by a full sung Eucharist. This continues throughout the choir year which loosely mirrors the pattern of the academic year. The Cathedral Consort of Singers is an adult voluntary choir that supplements the work of the Cathedral Choir and on Mondays and holidays we regularly welcome visiting choirs from close by and from all over the world to sing services. The Cathedral has a busy Music Outreach Programme working across the Diocese of Durham.
