Job Title: Marketing and Communications Officer
Location: Durham Cathedral
Contract: Fixed-Term until 31st March 2019
Salary: £22,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The Marketing Department at Durham Cathedral is a busy team that promote services and events at Durham Cathedral, as well as organise non-liturgical events.  The team is closely involved in promoting various major projects including Open Treasure, the Cathedral’s development project designed to transform the way visitors can enjoy the Cathedral and gain inspiration from it.  The team is looking for Marketing and Communications Officer who can help it achieve its objectives.
This is a new role and the post holder will be responsible for producing marketing and communication materials for on line and off line use and their distribution, with the aim of increasing public engagement and visitor numbers to Durham Cathedral and its exhibition experience Open Treasure.    
You will need to be a strong and confident communicator with excellent copy-writing skills.  You also need to have excellent creativity skills, be very organised and able to meet challenging deadlines.

Job Title: Contracts Manager (Clerk of Works)
Location: Durham Cathedral
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: c. £33,000 per annum

Durham Cathedral is looking to appoint a new Contracts Manager (Clerk of Works) to lead the in-house craftsmen (the ‘Works Yard’) in the repair and maintenance of the Cathedral and Cloister, the buildings of the Cathedral Precinct including the Chorister School, and the built structures within the woodlands & riverbanks surrounding the Cathedral Peninsula including Prebends Bridge.
We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual with significant experience in the construction industry. You will need to demonstrate strong financial management skills, robust experience in resource planning as well as a solid understanding of H&S legislation. We are looking for a candidate with proactive leadership and management skills to transform the Works Yard into a cost effective, knowledgeable, conservation-driven team. The position will support the strategic works planning undertaken by the Head of Property and will work closely with the Property & Facilities Manager.
While much of the work on the Cathedral’s properties is undertaken by the Works Yard, use is made of external contractors and specialist suppliers. The professional project and contracts management of all work is a key requirement of the Contracts Manager (Clerk of Works).
