Durham Cathedral owns about two thirds of the city centre riverbanks.

This wooded area provides a haven for all its inhabitants along with both residents and visitors to the city. There are numerous footpaths and points of interest along the riverbanks including stunning views of the Cathedral and the Durham World Heritage Site. We offer a variety of guided walks around the riverbanks and are always delighted to train volunteers to be guided walk leaders.

Leading walks and talks involves leading regular health walks around the riverbanks and woodlands. In addition to this volunteers will also have the opportunity to gain training in specialist areas, such as the history of Durham and the changing landscape, in order to lead other walks.

Contact enquiries@durhamcathedral.co.uk for more information.

Volunteering opportunities for this role will be advertised on the main volunteering page when they arise.
