Durham Cathedral Choir Association and the Durham Cathedral Old Choristers' Association

What it does

The support of Durham Cathedral Choir Association (DCCA) is vital in ensuring our musical tradition is maintained at its exceptionally high standard.

It also contributes to developing music as part of the Cathedral’s worship and heritage.

It supports provision of sacred music by the choirs and organists of Durham Cathedral and further afield through helping to fund:


Vital fundraising

It makes significant donations through presenting concerts and recitals, producing CDs sold worldwide, and publishing acclaimed books including the popular choristers' cookbook.

Durham Cathedral Old Choristers’ Association

Former choristers of Durham Cathedral and students of The Chorister School maintain lifelong friendships through the Durham Cathedral Old Choristers' Association (DCOCA). The Association’s work is supported by the Master of the Choristers and Organist and the Headmaster.  

Events include an all-day annual reunion at The Chorister School. The day includes an AGM, a Young Person's Forum, Choral Evensong sung by DCOCA members alongside the current Cathedral Choir, followed by an evening dinner.

Generous donations

DCOCA funds are regularly donated to The Chorister School and Cathedral Choir to support their musical activities, including:

  • purchasing music, instruments, staging, and recording equipment
  • contributing to the cost of Cathedral Choir tours
  • supporting the cost of expanding the Cathedral Choir to include a girls’ treble line in 2009 

How to join

Membership of DCOCA is open and free of charge to all former Chorister School students until they reach the age of 22. After that it is £10 a year. To join, please contact:
