Love Durham Cathedral?Donate now

Our volunteers and staff work with more than 20,000 children and young people every year.

Why do schools visit the Cathedral?

We aim to provide activities and resources that support Religious Education (R.E.) and the National Curriculum.

Our hands-on activities use the Cathedral as a unique educational resource that cannot be replicated in the classroom.

Types of activities

It's not just religion and history. You can also be helping children in sessions such as:

  • wildlife investigation
  • habitat recognition
  • orienteering and team building
  • survey work on plants and animals
  • art
  • literacy
  • geology
