Come and enjoy a family favourite service in which we light the tree, sing traditional carols and bless the unique nativity scene which was carved by a Durham miner.
Durham Cathedral’s beautiful crib scene will be blessed by the Dean, the Very Revd Dr Philip Plyming, at a special service suitable for people of all ages, including children, on Sunday 14 December at 3.30 p.m.
The nativity scene is very unique and includes a number of touches from the North East including a pit pony instead of a donkey and the Shepherd holding a miner’s lamp. It is much-loved by young and old alike.
