The heart of our community

What is the Community Roll?

The cathedral community includes worshippers, staff and volunteers. Together we pray, proclaim the Gospel and keep the Cathedral open for all who come here.

Anyone over the age of 16 who worships regularly in the Cathedral, or is engaged in work or service connected with the Cathedral, is entitled to join this register of members.

You can be a member of the Electoral Roll at your local place of worship at the same time as being on the Cathedral Community Roll.

Who can join the Roll?

Members of the Community Roll are people who are:

  • a regular worshipper
  • a volunteer
  • a resident of The College – the equivalent of our Cathedral green
  • a Cathedral employee, including the Chorister School
  • a member of the Choral Foundation
  • a Member of the Cathedral Friends’ Executive Council
  • a Member of the Durham Cathedral Choir Association Committee

How to join the Community Roll

We would love as many of our volunteers, staff and worshippers as possible to join the Community Roll.

Just contact Katie Dyer, Development Assistant on 0191 374 4079 or email community@durhamcathedral.co.uk for more information.

Or simply talk to a member of clergy after a service.
