It is possible to explore many of our artefacts and collections in our online catalogue ADLIB

Accessing the Cathedral Library’s special collections

We are happy to arrange appointments for visiting researchers to study special collections. You will need to:

  • provide an academic letter of introduction
  • contact us in advance to order your material and to make an appointment

Appointment locations

Viewings of Durham Cathedral Library manuscripts take place at Palace Green Library, part of Durham University, next to the Cathedral.

Viewings of music, antiquary and early printed collections are at Durham Cathedral Library.

The Cathedral’s manuscripts are currently being digitised as part of the Durham Priory Library Recreated project. When complete, all of the volumes will be available to view for free online.
