Details

The Cathedral finance department is responsible for the day-to-day handling of financial transactions including payroll using Sage accounting software, as well as production of timely and accurate management information. Working with heads of department and other budget holders, the finance department has a key role in “business partnering”, supporting colleagues in their roles.

The CFO and other members of the finance department are also responsible for working closely with external professionals such as the Cathedral’s investment managers, bank and VAT consultants. Following a re-tender process the Cathedral has recently appointed new auditors, Armstrong Watson, who will complete their first audit following the end of the 2024-25 accounting period. Historically, the Cathedral CFO has produced the annual accounts in-house, though there is the potential for this to be outsourced depending on the specific qualifications and experience of the person appointed.
