Durham Cathedral bids farewell to Chapter member Ivor Stolliday

08 April 2019

Change will be coming to the Chapter of Durham Cathedral, the cathedral's governing body, as Ivor Stolliday’s term as Lay Canon and member of Chapter comes to an end.

The Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett, Dean of Durham, says, “It is with sadness that we say adieu to Canon Ivor Stolliday. Ivor has served as a lay member of Chapter at the cathedral for the last six years, including being Chairman of our Resources Committee.  His expertise in the world of finance, cultural leadership and tourism has been of huge benefit to the Cathedral.  We wish him well, with the cathedral continuing to gain from his knowledge as we work closely with Visit County Durham, the tourism body for County Durham, of which Ivor is chair.“

Canon Ivor Stolliday, says, “Serving as a lay member of the Durham Cathedral Chapter, and as Cathedral Treasurer, has been a remarkable experience and a great privilege. The Cathedral, and its wonderful people, will remain in my heart. It has changed greatly in my time, and I am confident that we shall see it continue to flourish in an ever shifting world.”

Canon Stolliday will attend his final Chapter meeting on Tuesday 9th April.
