OmniCom: investing in the future of the past

15 July 2019

OmniCom, a leading IT solutions provider for schools and businesses, is one of a growing number of businesses that have pledged their support to Durham Cathedral’s Foundation 2020 campaign, which is due to wrap up in March next year.

Paul Tomlinson from OmniCom said: “OmniCom are proud to continue to support Durham Cathedral via the 2020 Club, as an acknowledgement of the great work the cathedral does in the city and in the wider region with the business community. The great, iconic cathedral is a huge asset to the city and it’s quite humbling to help contribute to its maintenance in any small way we can.”

Foundation 2020 is a public campaign to build an endowment fund by March 2020 through donations from members of the public and from the businesses community. The interest generated every year from the fund will cover the cathedral’s routine repair and maintenance costs. The National Lottery Heritage Fund has provided a grant of £1million matched funding available on a £1 for £1 basis, making the first £1million raised go even further.

Matthew Kirk is the relationship and development manager at Durham Cathedral.  Matthew said: “As a business, OmniCom is committed to investing in new technologies to ensure their services meet the needs of their customers. It’s great to see how they also invest in our region’s heritage; helping to provide local residents and visitors with enriching cultural experiences that they will remember for years to come.”
