This year, the Durham Cathedral Christmas Appeal is supporting the Salvation Army at Sanctuary 21 in Durham City. Sanctuary 21 will receive half of all donations, with the other half supporting the cathedral's ongoing ministry of welcome and hospitality.
Sanctuary 21 offers support to homeless and vulnerable people in our community. Volunteers give their time to provide hot meals, clothing, and other practical support, as well as signposting important services.
Karen Hook, Church Leader at Sanctuary 21 Durham and Crook Salvation Army, said
‘The Salvation Army Sanctuary 21 is grateful to Durham Cathedral for choosing us to partner with as part of their Christmas Appeal this year. The funds raised will enable us to continue to make Sanctuary 21 a place of welcome, value and acceptance to homeless and other vulnerable adults in our City, not only at Christmas but throughout the year’.
