Durham is located in North-East England and is accessible by a variety of means.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Durham Station is on the East Coast main line. The Cathedral Bus operates at regular intervals during the day between the bus and train stations to the Cathedral. See www.traveline.org to help plan your journey.

BY CAR
Durham is west of the A1(M) and east of the A167. There is no parking at the Cathedral itself. Durham County Council operates a park & ride scheme during the daytime, and there are city centre car parks. Visit www.thisisdurham.com for information about the park & ride and for other useful information.

EVENING TRAVEL
Please note that city centre transport does not generally operate to the Cathedral in the evening. Taxis are available for those unable to take the short walk up the hill. There is very limited disabled parking at the top of the Durham Peninsula.
