Help us complete durham cathedral in lego!

We're building Durham Cathedral in LEGO to raise funds for Open Treasure, Durham Cathedral's world-class exhibition experience open from Saturday 23 July.

Our 300,000 brick model will be as accurate a scale representation of the Cathedral as possible, spanning 3.84m long, 1.53m wide and 1.7m high. For every £1 donated, one LEGO brick is added to the model Cathedral.

Anyone wishing to support the LEGO build can donate by texting 'Lego16 £2' to 70070, by visiting the Cathedral in person or click here.

Since the first brick was laid by television presenter and historian Jonathan Foyle on 11 July 2013, the model has grown rapidly and we now have less than 2,000 bricks to go!

We'll be completing the model on Monday 25 July, so come along and add your brick to the model in person on a visit or donate online

Alternatively, community groups and churches are welcome to fundraise and build a section off-site before returning to the Cathedral to place it on the model. Online donations can be made here with the actual bricks being added by others.

All donations go towards Open Treasure, a project which will transform public access to some of the Cathedral's most spectacular spaces and to the breathtaking collections it has acquired over the centuries.

Keep up to date with our progress on Facebook and Twitter and watch Durham Cathedral grow! #DurhamCathedralLEGOBuild
