Christmas Day services

Saturday 25 December

Experience the joy of Christmas Day at Durham Cathedral.

Services on Christmas Day:

  • 8am - 8.45am Holy Communion
  • 10am - 10.50am Matins
  • 11.15am - 12.30pm Sung Eucharist (livestreamed)
  • 3.30pm - 4.30pm Evensong (livestreamed)
Attending the 11.15am Sung Eucharist

If you’d like to attend the 11.15am Sung Eucharist, you must book a free ticket in advance. Please ensure that all members of your party, including children, have a valid ticket to access this service.

This is because we anticipate this service being busy, and we need to know how many people are inside the cathedral.
You must also be prepared to show an NHS COVID Pass, a negative PCR or lateral flow test taken within the previous 48 hours, or a positive PCR test from within the past six months.

Attending other Christmas Day services

You do not need to book tickets to attend other services on Christmas Day. You will not be asked to show an NHS COVID Pass or test result.

Keeping everybody safe

Please do not attend the event if you have any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We encourage visitors to wear a face covering in enclosed and crowded spaces where people come into contact with people they don’t normally meet.
