Workshops with artist Ellie Clewlow

Wednesday 20 October to Wednesday 27 October at 10:30 AM

Channel your creativity and contribute to a new sculptural work, with this drop in origami workshop from artist, Ellie Clewlow.

On Wednesday 20 & 27 October, 10.30am – 12.30pm, drop by to join artist, Ellie Clewlow. Get creative making origami shapes from the pages of discarded reference books. Each piece of origami you create will be incorporated into Ellie’s newest work of art One Small Step.

One Small Step has been commissioned by Durham Cathedral, in response to Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon. Made of 3,000 interlocking origami modules, this new installation will be displayed in the Chapel of Nine Altars from November.

One Small Step will explore the ways in which we learn. The sculpture has been inspired by human exploration of the moon, the interior of Durham Cathedral, and by the Way of Learning Northern Saints trail. If you like, you can also share ‘One thing I have learned’ with Ellie during the workshop. This will then be written on squares of paper to be folded into the sculpture.
