Reading for Faith

28 September 2017

St John's College, South Bailey, Durham

The Reading for Faith book group, part of the Open Treasure project at Durham Cathedral, began meeting in 2015-16 and will be continuing in 2017-18 for a final year. The group reads and discusses books which, while not all overtly Christian, raise Christian faith issues.

Reading for Faith is led by Dr Gillian Boughton and Canon Rosalind Brown.

Thursday 28 September: Barbara Kingsolver, ‘The Poisonwood Bible’
Thursday 23 November: Janet Morley, ‘Haphazard by Starlight’ (poetry)
Thursday 25 January: T.S. Eliot ‘Murder in the Cathedral’
Thursday 22 March: Rowan Williams, ‘Being Disciples’
Thursday 31 May: Chris Cook, ‘Finding God in a Holy Place’

If you are interested in joining and can commit to reading the books before the meeting and (as far as you know at this stage) coming to at least four of the six meetings, please send an e-mail to or phone 0191 386 4266 to register interest.

The books will be available from the Cathedral Shop.
