Organ Scholarships
Two Organ Scholarships are offered by the Chapter of Durham Cathedral to students who obtain admission to the University. The Senior Organ Scholarship is partly funded by a generous grant from the Michael James Music Trust.
Conditions of an organ scholarship
Candidates must be academically equipped to follow their chosen course of study at Durham. If you are unlikely to meet the University’s academic requirements for admission, you will not be accepted as a candidate for a Scholarship.
It is generally not possible to combine the duties of Organ Scholar with certain academic subjects such as Social Sciences involving laboratory work or the Sciences. The Organ Scholarship only remains tenable on condition that the holder retains his or her University place for the duration of the Scholarship.
How to apply
Auditions are generally held in March to start the following October, however the audition date for scholarships starting in October 2021 will depend on government guidlines at the time.
