Held every Sunday during term-time at our Education Centre

What age range is it suitable for?

Children are welcome from birth to 14 years old.

What time does it start?

Sunday School meets during the first part of the 11.15am Sung Eucharist.

Service Stewards will be happy to direct you to the Education Centre.

All our Sunday School Helpers have DBS clearance.

Can parents of younger children join in?

Yes, parents or guardians of young children are invited to join in with Sunday School.

What about older children?

The children are brought back into the Cathedral in time to receive communion. We ask parents or guardians to sit in the South Transept so our Sunday School Helpers can easily find you.

Sunday School alternatives

For children who don’t wish to go to Sunday School, we have fun activity bags to keep them occupied. Please ask a Service Steward and return it to the back of the church at the end of the service.

A school holiday crèche

During school holidays we provide crèche facilities in the Chapter House, accessed via the South Transept. One Sunday School Helper will be on duty each week, and a parent or guardian is asked to stay with their children.

Sing it loud!

It isn't just Choristers who sing at Durham Cathedral. We have lots of singing opportunities for children of all ages through our Music Outreach Programme.
