CHIMES: Music Classes for Early years

Durham Cathedral Outreach Programme offers music classes for Early Years children.

Songs, games and activities to engage the young children and their carers. These will develop your child’s language skills, sense of musical pitch and rhythm, social skills, pattern recognition and motor control, all in an atmosphere of fun and exploration.

Classes are based on the Kodaly music system where children develop the foundations of musicianship.

Research has shown that this not only builds a love for music later in life, but helps develop the ability to focus and concentrate, contributing to healthy academic development and creative questioning.
