Marketing and Events Assistant

Location: Durham Cathedral
Contract: Permanent
Salary: 9,000

Job description

The Marketing and Events Team at Durham Cathedral is a busy team promoting the work of the Cathedral, particularly elements around public engagement, as well as organise non-liturgical events. The team is looking for an excellent administrator who can help it achieve its objectives.

Ideally you will have previous experience in an administrative role, be familiar with using a Customer Relationship Management system and have excellent communication skills. In addition you must be able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in your work.

Media and PR Officer

Location: Durham Cathedral
Contract: FixedTerm
Salary: 22,400 pro-rata

Job description

In this role you will be responsible for researching, producing and distributing media and PR materials to media organisations for use in print, broadcast and online channels, with the aim of increasing public engagement and visitor numbers to Durham Cathedral and its exhibition experience Open Treasure.

You will need to be a strong and confident communicator with excellent copy-writing skills. You also need to have excellent creativity skills, be very organised and able to meet challenging deadlines.

Gallery Attendant

Location: Durham Cathedral

Salary: £8.75 per hour per annum
Hours: The normal weekly timetable is as follows, (subject to review): Part-time

Job description

Hours: 52 hours per fortnight
Monday, Tuesday, 9.30-5.30pm, half day Wednesday, 9.30-2.00pm plus
every other weekend, Saturday 9.30-5.30pm, Sunday 12-5.30pm
  
Open Treasure is Durham Cathedral’s newest visitor experience.  A rolling programme of exhibitions featuring the Cathedral’s own extensive collections and items on short-term loan from other prestigious institutions is now open to the public.  This £10 million project with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund gives visitors the opportunity to experience modern high quality gallery spaces that remain sensitive to the history of the Cathedral and to learn about the history of the region and Christianity.
 
We are looking for an individual with an interest in heritage and historical collections to join our Open Treasure Gallery Attendant team. Responsible for the overall visitor experience, daily duties will include, but are not limited to, providing interpretation to exhibition visitors, providing visitor desk cover, sales, security and maintenance.  Full training will be provided on the job.
