Gallery Attendant

Location: Open Treasure - Durham Cathedral
Contract: FixedTerm
Salary: £9.10 per hour
Hours: The normal weekly timetable is as follows, (subject to review): 52 hours over a fortnight

Job description

Open Treasure is Durham Cathedral’s museum experience, including permanent displays and a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions featuring the Cathedral’s own extensive collections and items on short-term loan from other prestigious institutions.  This £10 million project with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund gives visitors the opportunity to experience modern high quality gallery spaces that remain sensitive to the history of the Cathedral and to learn about the history of the region and Christianity.

 

We are looking for an individual with an interest in heritage and historical collections to join our Open Treasure Gallery Attendant team. Responsible for the overall visitor experience, daily duties will include, but are not limited to, providing interpretation to exhibition visitors, providing visitor desk cover, sales, security and maintenance.  Full training will be provided on the job.

 

This post is a temporary post - fixed term contract for 6 months.

The working hours are 52 hours per fortnight

(Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, plus every other weekend)

The Chorister School is a leading co-educational boarding and day Prep School, educating children from the age of 3 to 13.
Visiting Music Teachers are self-employed and only teach during the School term, on the days and times that they agree with the Director of Music. Visiting Music Teachers teach their first lesson at 08:15. It is hoped that all teachers will support major music department concerts throughout the school year. Individual music lessons last for 35 minutes and are timetabled on rotation each half-term.

  • Start date: September 2019
  • Self Employed, part time
