Durham Cathedral Pilgrims Follow in the Footsteps of St Paul

Thirty-three pilgrims recently returned from a Durham Cathedral pilgrimage to Greece in the steps of St Paul.

Tracing Paul’s second missionary journey, undertaken in around 50AD and described in the book of Acts, the group travelled from Philippi to Corinth, worshipping and praying in the places where Paul first preached and shared the good news of Jesus Christ.

Led by the Dean of Durham, Philip Plyming and Jocelyn Bryan, Licensed Lay Minister at Durham Cathedral, the group learned more about how the Apostle Paul brought the Christian faith to mainland Europe and also visited places of Christian worship and mission today.

Pilgrimage is one of Durham Cathedral’s four priorities within Vision 2033, and the Cathedral recently completed the construction of the Cuthbert Centre for Pilgrimage and Prayer which will offer a programme of pilgrimages and quiet days from Spring 2027.
