Do you know a child that loves to sing? Durham Cathedral Choir is looking for the next generation of Choristers. This is a unique opportunity for any child in school years 2-5 to sing with the Choristers in the Cathedral.
Children will get the chance to meet the current Cathedral Choristers, hear them sing, and then make music together.
They will also have the opportunity to have a tour of the Cathedral, play the organ, and take part in craft activities.
We are especially keen to hear from girls in Year 2, 3 and 5 and boys in Years 2 to 5.
There are no spaces to audition for the Cathedral Choir for girls in Year 4 but they are welcome to attend the day.
The day is free of charge and all children in Years 2 to 6 and their parents/ guardians are welcome. No previous experience is necessary, just a love of singing and plenty of enthusiasm! Children are asked to wear their school uniform please.
Schedule for the day
12.30 pm Registration in the Chapter House
12.50 pm Welcome
1.10 pm Choir Practice
2.00 pm Craft activity, tour of the Cathedral and organ playing activity
3.30 pm Break with a snack provided
4.15 pm Choir Practice in the Cathedral
5.30 pm Evensong
A separate schedule for parents/guardians will run alongside this.
