Junior Consort

Junior Consort is our newest choir, helping teenagers stay in touch with music and sing to the highest standard.

What to expect?

Girls and boys sing together where their voices are most comfortable (soprano or treble, alto, tenor or bass) and changing voices are welcomed.

Junior Consort often sings alongside the back row of the Cathedral Choir, the Choral Scholars and Lay Clerks. They are directed by Daniel Cook, Master of the Choristers and Organist.

When do Junior Consort rehearse and sing?

It rehearses fortnightly on a Wednesday evening and supplements the work of the Consort, singing for services at times when the Cathedral Choir is not available, as well as in concerts alongside the other choirs. The sopranos also form the Antiphon Choir for the Advent Processions.

How do I join?

Entrance to Junior Consort is by audition. If you are interested in auditioning, please email music@durhamcathedral.co.uk
