Library catalogues

Work is continuing, as and when funding is available, to make catalogue records for the Library’s historic collections available and searchable online.

Manuscripts catalogues

A number of the Cathedral’s catalogues of the historic collections are available online on the Durham University Archives and Special Collections website.

For more information about the Cathedral’s collections see:

  • Manuscripts formerly belonging to Durham Cathedral Priory are listed in N.R. Ker’s Medieval libraries of Great Britain 2nd edition (London, 1964) and Supplement to the second edition ed. Andrew Watson (London, 1967).

The catalogue of the incunabula, the Sharp Library, and any Chapter Library books acquired since 2000 are listed on Durham University Library’s online catalogue

Books printed on the Continent before 1701 appear on Copac (Consortium of Online Public Access Catalogues). All Durham books can be found by searching for keyword “Durham”, in library “cathedral libraries”.
