The Revd Daniel Parkinson

Succentor

Dan works with the Precentor to co-ordinate the liturgy and worship which takes place at the cathedral. 

He also works with the Canon Professor as a member of the Steering Committee for the Durham Cathedral Institute, and co-ordinate the Cathedral's student ministry.

Background:

Prior to ordination Dan worked as an English teacher in a secondary school in Sheffield. He trained for the priesthood at Westcott House, Cambridge, before serving as an Assistant Curate at Doncaster Minster in the diocese of Sheffield. 

In addition to his duties at the cathedral, he is currently working full-time for a PhD in the Theology and Religion Department, Durham University. His research focuses upon the nature of beauty within the theology and metaphysical thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.
